Fall is here, and my sewing table is buzzing with exciting new projects! Let me share what I've been working on and what's coming up in the next few months.
MINT: A Journey into Historical Mystery
I'm thrilled to finally share my latest pattern release: MINT, a historically-inspired jacket that has been both a challenge and a joy to create.

The design is based on an antique piece from collector @witchyvintage that completely captivated me. This mysterious bodice raised so many questions - was it everyday wear? Part of a theatrical costume (but I do not think so)? Something made for a person with very particular taste? The unusual side gussets and neckline shape made it impossible to categorize definitively.

What I knew for certain was that I had to recreate it. Unfortunately, the original sold just before I could contact the seller (heartbreak!), but that setback became creative fuel!
The Creative Process
For my interpretation, I chose a stunning pale green silk moiré paired with peacock blue velvet - a combination that feels both historical and fresh. Since I only had front photos of the original, I had to design the entire back from scratch, which was both challenging and liberating.

My fabric samples for this project.
The biggest issue? Creating the mockup. This piece has such an unusual shape that I went through multiple iterations, literally drawing on the cotton canvas while wearing it to figure out gusset placement and neckline construction. The double-layered front closure and those distinctive gussets required serious problem-solving!

Here is one of the mock ups on me, before fitting the sleeves.
I also created original decorative elements for this jacket, making it truly my own while maintaining historical accuracy through period-appropriate construction techniques.

Here's my initial sketch for this project. I really enjoy drawing fashion plates and creating technical drawings of my costume designs at my work table.
The Result
What emerged is something I'd classify as 'history bounding' - historically inspired but with my own artistic interpretation. I extended the hip length significantly and refined every detail to create something that feels both authentic and uniquely mine.
Given its complexity and specialized appeal, I've released MINT as a premium pattern in a single size (my prototype measurements) with a very detailed tutorial. It's definitely for the dedicated historical sewing enthusiast!

What's Next This Fall
Just Released: I've also just published a new Reticule pattern perfect for the 1800-1870 period - another piece I'm excited to share!
In Progress: I'm currently finishing a blouse waist pattern and a couple of Swiss waists that I think you'll love.
Coming Soon: Fall and winter mean Jacket season! I'm planning some heavy garment patterns with detailed tutorials - perfect timing for cozy indoor sewing sessions.
Original Antique Pieces Project: I haven't forgotten about digitizing original Victorian pieces. I have several antique bodices and a corset cover waiting to be transformed into patterns for my 'Antique Collection.'
Looking Ahead
November will bring some exciting events where I'll be wearing my historical costumes - I can't wait to share those adventures with you!
And as always, I'm available for custom sewing commissions. I'm currently working on a pair of made-to-measure corsets, so if you're interested in bespoke historical garments, don't hesitate to reach out via Etsy or contact me directly.
What projects are you planning for fall? I'd love to hear what's inspiring your autumn sewing!
