This cape draws inspiration from a fancy 1887 Victorian design from Italian magazine La moda illustrata, reimagined by ButterflyGarments © for contemporary makers. While the original featured whalebone channels, this modern interpretation uses steel wire for 3D shaping – easier to source and work with while achieving dramatic results - and a back triangular cut. The cape is held by a small ribbon on the neck, but you may insert clasps, or snap buttons, or even try to add a collar all over the neck (not included).

It requires experience with garment construction and boning techniques recommended.
